Founded by Carlie Smith in 2017, Just Shear is more than a printing and apparel business; it’s a passion project inspired by Carlie’s childhood on a sheep station, coupled with her talent for signwriting.

Carlie envisioned creating customised long-tail clothing for Australian farmers, tradespeople, and rural professionals to provide coverage during physical activities, such as shearing, motorbike riding, plumbing, construction, and farrier work.

In just seven years, Just Shear has grown exponentially, employing seven dedicated staff members in a bustling workshop in Maitland, South Australia, maintaining six full shipping containers of stock.

This setup ensures a 10-day turnaround for personalised orders, benefiting remote customers over 300 km from town centres. “We used to struggle with freight companies refusing rural deliveries,” said Carlie.

Just Shear has evolved from a single-service customer at Team Global Express to leveraging our expansive multimodal network – from importing product internationally, to using our air and road fleet to distribute to their customers Australia-wide.

“Through our partnership with Team Global Express, we now receive stock directly from our suppliers in China and Pakistan straight to our door in regional South Australia in approximately four days, ensuring seamless storage and efficient order packing,’ said Carlie.

“This international service offering has significantly streamlined our logistics, eliminating the need for up to ten forwarding companies and the exorbitant postal charges we previously encountered, as well as a much smoother customs process.”

Just Shear’s partnership with Team Global Express also helps Carlie and her team to streamline parcel collections, minimising the need for 30 km round trips to town for postage.

“Team Global Express has made it feel like we live in a capital city—they go the extra mile, ensuring timely deliveries and making us feel like a priority, turning our logistics challenges into seamless operations, with nothing too hard to achieve,” she said.

“One of the values of Just Shear is that country people matter,” continued Carlie.

“While many city or town people think that they are a drop in the ocean, rural individuals are the core of our country. They put food on our tables every day and deserve comfortable, quality clothing that can be printed with their business logo and delivered to their door within a matter of weeks, without having to make a trip to town, bridging the gap between online and instore shopping.”
