Team Global Express' Sustainability Sponsorship at the National Retail Awards

In a celebration of sustainability and innovation, the National Retail Awards held on the 26th October in Brisbane, marked a pivotal moment as Team Global Express sponsored the inaugural Sustainability Award. Team Global Express Group, Christine Holgate, proudly presented this prestigious award to Circonomy, a trailblazing social enterprise dedicated to fostering a circular economy.

The collaboration between Team Global Express and the National Retail Association underscored a shared commitment to addressing critical industry challenges with a focus on sustainability and reliable, cost-effective logistics. This partnership aimsto recognise and champion initiatives that drive sustainable practices within the retail and logistics sectors.

Christine Holgate expressed her enthusiasm, highlighting the significance of the award and its alignment with Team Global Express' vision to lead as the most sustainable logistics company in Australia. She reiterated the importance of reducing the transport industry's considerable carbon footprint, which accounts for a staggering 19% of Australia's emissions.

Circonomy, the deserving recipient of the Sustainability Award, stands at the forefront of the circular economy movement. Yas Grigaliunas, the founder, was overwhelmed with the award win  and emphasised Circonomy's mission to create a world without waste. Their approach involves activating dormant goods through innovative strategies like repair, renewal, repurposing, and recommerce, echoing a commitment to sustainability and resourcefulness.

Grigaliunas stated, "This vision, held at the heart of the company, is now a reality thanks to the unwavering commitment of our incredible team and the endless inspiration we've gained from mentors, partners, and fellow finalists."

The award ceremony, showcased excellence across various categories, acknowledging outstanding contributions and innovation within the retail industry. The Sustainable Retailer of the Year award, among seven new categories introduced this year, stands as a testament to the growing emphasis on sustainable practices within the retail landscape.

Team Global Express' continued focus on sustainability was further highlighted by Christine’s insights into the company's ongoing initiatives. Notably, the rollout of Australia's largest electric truck fleet in partnership with ARENA, incorporating 60 Battery Electric Vehicles to deliver parcels around Sydney, demonstrates a commitment to reducing carbon emissions and embracing eco-friendly transport options.

In addition, the recent partnership with Aurizon to operate containerised rail freight reflects Team Global Express' efforts to expand greener transportation choices and enhance Australia's rail freight capacity.
