Recently, Team Global Express (TGE) joined Aurizon and Rita Saffioti, Deputy Premier WA, in Perth to celebrate the official opening of the new Kewdale Rail Terminal, marking an important milestone in our long-term partnership and strengthening our East–West rail capability.

The ~$60 million facility is a significant investment in Aurizon’s containerised freight capability, designed to accommodate double-stacked interstate freight trains of up to 1.8 kilometres and provide additional capacity, efficiency and flexibility to support customer demand.

The opening builds on the strategic partnership between TGE and Aurizon, which provides rail linehaul services across key interstate corridors. TGE’s containerised rail freight volumes carried by Aurizon grew by more than 10% in FY2026, reflecting continued demand for rail linehaul solutions.

A growing national rail and intermodal capability

Supported by 15 rail operations nationally, TGE rail offering connects major mainland capital cities across key East–West, North–South, Central and Intrastate Queensland corridors. Integrated with an extensive road network, it enables end-to-end freight solutions across Australian metropolitan, regional and remote areas.

Mario Philippou, Executive General Manager – Intermodal & Specialised, Team Global Express, said

“Intermodal rail provides customers with greater choice and flexibility, particularly as organisations look for more resilient and sustainable freight solutions. The opening of the new Kewdale Rail Terminal provides additional capacity to support our customers as demand for our Intermodal rail services continues to grow.”
