Delivering Hope: Team Global Express 25-Year Journey with Daffodil Day

Every August, a quiet but powerful journey takes place across Australia. Millions of daffodils, symbols of hope and renewal, travel from farms and distribution points to community stalls, workplaces and doorsteps nationwide. For 25 years, Team Global Express has been part of that journey, transporting the daffodils that fund Cancer Council's life-saving education and patient support services.

This year, Thursday 20th of August, marks a milestone for Daffodil Day itself. Since its launch in 1986, the campaign has grown from small community stalls into Australia's most recognized cancer fundraising event. In 2026, it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The daffodil was chosen as the campaign's emblem because of what it represents: hope. Cancer charities around the world have used the flower this way since the 1950s, and in Australia, that hope has translated into results. Cancer Council Australia reports that the five year cancer survival rate has climbed from around 46% in 1986 to 72% today. Research funded through community support, including Daffodil Day, has played a real part in that progress.

Behind every daffodil sold is a logistics story. Flowers are time sensitive and getting them from growers to thousands of locations across the country in peak condition takes careful planning and a reliable network. That's where TGE comes in. For a quarter of a century, our teams have helped move this precious cargo, ensuring communities across Australia have daffodils in hand in time to support the cause.

Twenty-five years on, our role hasn't changed: get the daffodils where they need to go, so hope can keep travelling too.
